Tempus Fugit Gran Classico Bitter
Gran Classico Bitter is based on the virtually lost "Italian Bitter Turin" recipe dating from the 1860's. The original protocol is almost undoubtedly the base for the most famous, yet now industrial, red bitter aperitif, but fortunately had also been purchased from the 19th-century Italian inventor by a small Swiss distillery in 1925 and was produced for decades in tiny quantities for the pleasure of the local market. This classic aperitif bitters is am amazingly complex, yet balanced, bitter-sweet infusion of 25 aromatic herbs and roots including wormwood, gentian, orange peel, rhubarb and hyssop. It can be drunk straight, mixed with Seltzer water or beer, and is spectacular cocktails.
